ANGRAECUM An interesting group of orchids, blooms usually large and white, fragrant at night. Many with long nectary, up to 16 inches. All monopodial, VANDA like growth. Can be very substantial in size. $15,   SESQUIPEDALE: the famous DARWIN orchid with the 16 inch nectary that he predicted was pollinated by a moth. $25 BS, LEONIS, the one from the Comoros, stays small. ASCOCENTRUM A group of VANDACEOUS, usually small growing, with showy, smallish blooms of bright orange to red or purple flowers. DENDROBIUM A genus that is far too big to go into any reasonable discussion. Suffice to say that it has plenty to offer in an enormous variety of shapes, colors and sizes. I will recount a small number of species we carry. AGGREGATUM  $25, ANOSMUM: A large blooming pink or white, fragrant and pendant. $15, GONZALESII: A fabulous light blue. $25 LODDIGESII: A mini pink and yellow with scads of blooms $15, MUTABILE: A beautiful white suffused with pink on a snake like growth.  LASIANTHER MAY RIVER: red, $35,  PARISHII and PARISHII ALBA  $25  JUST IN: THE BEST of all. SULEWESIENSE, what looks like a huge pink Cuthbersonii, but grows warm. Others sell for high prices - my price $35

DENDROCHILUM We dearly love these. Mostly have fishing pole like spikes that end with a long line of fragrant blooms hanging pendant from the end. Best in baskets. EPIDENDRUM In many cases, similar to ENCYCLIA but generally more of a cane-type orchid. Reed stem types are well known and seem to be everywhere. The majority are quite showy with lots of solid, bright colors, easy to grow and bloom. CALANTHUM my favorite. Greenish white with a huge, frilly white lip. $25,  CILIARE: a handsome, large white with yellow to green, very frilly lip. $15,  CINNABARINA: a really nice deep orange and yellow with lots of whiskers. $25, DIFFUSUM $10, DIXORUM $20, FLORIBUNDUM $15, ILENSE: One of the most famous of all. ERIA: We carry various ERIA species from time to time. In at the moment is SPICATA, it is an orange form, fragrant on 6 inch spikes. This can make a spectacular specimen plant in a short time. $10 BS, F, SHADED, INTERMEDIATE, MOIST

GONGORA We tend to carry a lot of different ones in and out. Some are very rare. All fragrant, all have pretty birdlike colorful pendant and long lasting blooms. Grow in baskets and shaded with plenty of moisture. SCAPHEPHORUS $35, TRUNCATA $35.Many Mexican species come in at $25 each to include ARMENIACA, GALEATA, MACULATA, QUINQUENERVIS, TRUNCATA. MAXILLARIA All kinds in and out. It’s tough to explain MAXILLARIAS, there are all sorts. They tend to imitate other orchid genera so they can look like anything. Bloom sizes vary.  Generally speaking, they are showy and large. We usually carry the well known ones like CAMARIDII: a large white with showy foliage.$15,   SANGUINEA: the porcupine orchid with fragrant red and white blooms and lots of them. $15,  TENUIFOLIA (the coconut orchid): red. $15,  Many, many others in and out. Generally they grow: WARM TO INTERMEDIATE, FRAGRANT, SLIGHTLY SHADED AND MOIST

ONCIDIUM This too is a very large area to cover and, once again, we try to stock as many as we can find. At one time or another, I have had most of the 400+ species. They range from minute to gigantic in size, from cool to hot, from deep shade to nearly full sun and from extremely moist to bone dry in culture.  AMPLIATUM MAJUS: a large lipped and turtle shelled beauty, lots of blooms. $25, ANTHROCRENE: large blooms of bright yellows and chocolate with a wavy shape. $25, CAJAMARCAS (from Peru): lots of yellow, big lip. $25, CAVENDISHIANUM: $25. VANDA We carry a large supply of VANDA species and hybrids.  COERULEA: $45, DENISONIANA $25, SANDERIANA: At times we have various different clones. ZYGOPETALUM We carry MACKAYI and a number of hybrids at all times. Others are in and out as we order them. All have lots of blue on the lip, many with black sepals and petals. $25 per plant F, INTERMEDIATE (FOR BEST RESULTS), MOIST, SEMI SHADE. A DRYING OUT PERIOD ENHANCES BLOOMING.

THE ALII PLANTS: In Hawaii, the Alii were the upper class, the "elite" as it were. It seems fitting, therefore, to put my plants that have some better quality to them, either by clone or by distinction of their uniqueness, into such a category.
